Forge Cottage Rocks.

Lee Hogarth on Thatcher the Milk Snatcher.

General:- Recently discover in early 2003. ThisAndy Mepham on Electric Wires .....UKCrags(c)2003 very small outcrop is about 50 yards in length and faces west. Just a few 100 yards north west of Forge Cottage near Tent Hill. This crag can be used to highlight a walk along the 1066 way.

Access:-  It is almost certain that access is through private land across a small field, therefore anybody visiting this area should be aware that the land may belong to somebody else with the obvious implications. A large bull also resides in the field.

This article does not imply any access rights.

Location:- A small outcrop about 200 yds North of Forge Cottages called Forge Cottages Rocks.
Explorer 124 OS Map Hastings and Bexhill..... Ref 687165. The crag is about 50 yds long and peaks in the middle at about 12ft. The rock is considerably better than Tent Hill which is about 1/2 a mile away.

The climbs are as follows.

Two Electric Wires over the Milky Way 5b. This takes the thin crack to the left of the larger crack.
Layback on this thin fingery crack to a very thin crimp at the top of the crack. Finish on moss and tree roots well above.     Solo by Andy Mepham 1st July 2003

To the right about 5 feet is a larger crack.

Thatcher the milk snatcher 5A.

Thatcher the milk snatcher 5A. To climb Thatcher; jam your right hand into the lip of her crack, step up onto her face on good pockets, place a left fist jam high in her dingy recess and rock onto her lip with your left foot. Snatch at her trunk and disdain her dangling limbs to finish. Traverse left on her fuzzy top to escape.( First ascent Lee Hogarth 2003)

Further right is another line that needs cleaning but would make a pleasant addition to a very small esoteric crag.
